After leaving his Midwestern roots, and making home in the great state of North Carolina, Doug founded Stimmel in 1986. He has leveraged over 37 years of experience in Landscape Architecture and Land Planning to make Stimmel an award-winning design firm. Through Doug’s leadership, Stimmel has remained one of the Top 100 North Carolina Small Businesses for the past three years, and Doug has been awarded a Triad Mover & Shaker and a Triad Top 50 Entrepreneur.

Recognized as a leader in his field, Doug has served as a member of ASLA (American Society of Landscape Architects), appearing on their Public Relations Committee, and Continuing Education Board as well as serving locally on Winston-Salem’s Steering Committee, Homebuilders Association and Forsyth County Zoning Ordinance. Doug also gives time, support and services to various groups such as TREBIC and Winston-Salem Sustainability Resource Center.
