The 216-acre Park, situated in the Belews Creek area, is the first publicly owned park on Belews Lake. As the 4th largest park in Forsyth County, it has nearly 2 miles of lake frontage. The Stimmel, Stitch, Select Engineering, & Applied Engineering team provided the County a Park that the community can enjoy while making sure to maintain a tight budget.
Phase I includes site grading, site utilities, parking lots, an ADA-accessible fishing pier, a 200-person shelter, playgrounds, restrooms, comfort station, 1,200 linear ft of paved, ADA-accessible walking trail & 3,500 linear ft of a gravel nature trail along the shoreline.
The next 2 phases of the park’s development will extend a second road to Belews Lake from the entry to a more northern section of the park, provide an indoor meeting building, 2 more shelters, observation tower, another fishing dock & a network of paved & natural trails. Phases 2 & 3 are anticipated to be completed by 2027, pending further grants & funding.
With a focus on regional appeal & connections to nearby areas, Belews Lake Park aims to attract visitors from surrounding counties such as Rockingham, Stokes, & Guilford. The project reflects Forsyth County’s commitment to expanding open spaces & recreational facilities, promoting a healthy environment for current & future generations. Delivering a high-quality product while being as efficient as possible with public funds was key.
