Cone Health initiated a transformative effort to develop a holistic healthcare experience with the 200,000 sq. ft. Health & Wellness Center at Drawbridge Parkway. The MedCenter Greensboro introduces a wellness-focused approach to the community, featuring inclusive spaces for healthy living, emergency services, and clinical care. This comprehensive campus includes a freestanding Emergency Department, primary and specialty care services, and Cone Health’s first medical fitness center, Sagewell Health & Fitness.
Stimmel played a crucial role in promoting wellness through outdoor design, facilitating exercise and mindfulness. Features include a versatile ‘connector’ road, terraced lawn for events, an outdoor workout patio, and a café that opens into a tranquil courtyard with raised garden beds, enhancing community engagement and healthy food education.
Seamlessly integrated into Greensboro, the MedCenter connects to the Bicentennial Greenway, promoting recreation and alternative transportation. Over 75 companies collaborated on this project, employing 1,135 workers and employing a Lean Integrated Project Delivery process that emphasized community involvement and innovative solutions, setting a new standard for future healthcare design.
