Charlotte Community Park Master Planning

The comprehensive plan for the park endeavors to achieve a balance of passive & active recreation uses, while acknowledging the agrarian history of the property. The design team is working with Mecklenburg County to provide an opportunity for a non-profit organization to provide agricultural education programs, farm management occupations, & food production on approximately 10 acres of the property.
The project will include maintenance and operations facilities, soil enrichments and composting facilities and a potential open air market building.
Phase 1 construction is estimated to begin in 2023 and will include a basketball court, splash pad, playground, meadow, amphitheater, restrooms, parking and enhancements to the existing community garden, such as more space, a new perimeter fence and a tool shed.
The next phase will include pickleball, a welcome center, event lawn, orchard, picnic shelter, natural surface walking trails & additional parking.
