The Greensboro Children’s Museum’s Reaching Greater Heights project opened in late Spring 2017. The museum’s expansion includes a state-of-the-art outdoor play plaza with two Neptune XXL Climbers (30 ft. tall & capable of holding 250 children each), a winding water feature with 10 experiential learning stations for toddlers up to teens, & an outdoor-patio classroom that will link the Edible Schoolyard to the new play plaza. The expansion also includes redesigning the museum’s entrance to better accommodate school groups, community groups & families including a bus drop-off, shade & rain structure, & automatic doors.
The Reaching Greater Heights project/campaign focuses on: creating even more excitement for families visiting downtown Greensboro, adding a new, bright, artistic, modern landmark to the downtown landscape, increasing opportunities for active play & learning, creating additional play opportunities for families with children of varying ages & interests, & increasing traffic to the Church Street area.
