In March of 2016, the City Council of High Point approved a strategic goal to create a downtown catalyst project that would produce jobs, expand dining and shopping choices, add residential housing and serve as a centralized gathering space. The vision has gelled into an exciting new downtown High Point featuring a stadium that is home to an Atlantic League baseball team and an additional 6.5 acres of private development which will blossom into a new downtown hotel, office community, multi-family housing, park, event center and food hall.
The $210 million project is funded through an innovative public-private partnership model that includes the City, Forward High Point, and High Point University sharing investment, design and construction responsibilities.
Once complete, the new development is projected to attract an additional 200,000 visitors and permanent jobs, and new downtown residents per year to the area, bringing an energy, joy and economic engine to the area for decades to come.
