The Long Branch Trail is a 1/2-mile trail located on an unused rail line owned by NCDOT Rail/PART. It is situated in the heart of the North District and is bordered directly by Inmar, 525@Vine, 60's Buildings, Piedmont Leaf Lofts and Plant 64 Apartments (under construction by others). It includes an existing rail line to remain, new and refurbished bridges, 14' wide paved path, plazas, walls and stairs, signage, lighting and furnishings. The project will be constructed with federal STP-DA funding with local match by the City of Winston-Salem and IQ. A second phase, currently in design, will significantly extend the trail to the south and tie-in with a paved bike and pedestrian path along Salem Creek Connector.
